I too use a filter on my desk, so the size trades I am referring to are >40k shares only.

I do get your point about a prearranged block trade which would make sense to me if it were outside of the spread in one direction only. But the trades I am stumped on are ones which seem to be clearly printing in both directions and at prices which would indicate a loss if the trade were done by one party. If I am misunderstanding the mechanics, please explain.

If not, anyone with insight into this would be appreciated. Thanks.
