Promiscuity, cheating, succumbing to temptation, dirty thoughts with a little lying and deceit thrown in. Are we are referring to the president of the United States?

Ok. I may have fornicated in my mind but there are no stained dresses. No presents that have to be returned. No visits by an intern that need to be explained away. I may even have taken it to the physical level (well ok! I did!) but not in a business environment. Put in to perspective this sucks!

This isn't really about cheating or just sex. It's about improper office conduct and how it may detrimentally impact the performance of an organization. It can't help when:

1) the improper conduct is performed in the office

2) the principal utilizes others in the organization to cover up for him

3) the principal utilizes others in the organization to go out and vouch for the veracity of his statements

4) the principal seeks to get job for the intern (the usual modus operandi is to threaten the job of the partner) in exchange for false testimony

As I recall in the incident about casting the stones at the prostitute, religious zealots were seeking to put to death in the name of God. Rules of conduct and behavior are part of the employment contract. Since there seems evidence that he violated these standards and furthermore tried to cover up his violations, he should be fired from his position for both the improper conduct and for false representation to those to whom he reports. No one is asking that he be forever barred from seeking another job or even seeking another elected office. The facts of the improper relationship will be considered, and his poor conduct during the investigation should be also be considered to compound his list of violations. He should be given the same consideration as others in the government that have been found to have committed the same conduct. He should be relieved of his position and perhaps also his pension. Then he will be foregiven.
