If proven, illegal campaign contributions (that Janet Reno seem less than eager to investigate) also may have altered the outcome of the Presidential election.

The guy scolded the American people(IMHO, biggest error of all) and it turned out to be a lie. Total loss of credibility.

Sex with 21 year old intern in the Oval office insures that he lives out his year being viewed as a dirty old man the abused his power.

Instead of just accepting total responsibility, apologizing and asking for forgiveness, he tried to put it off on Ken Starr. Bad strategy. Nobody to blame but himself.

Hillary and Chelsea should be thanking Starr for revealing his ways to them. Otherwise, they would not have known.

After his past indescretions, I would think he could control himself. No self control.

Much better performance on lie speech than a truth speech. Its pretty obvious to me which one he feels most comfortable with. No conscience.

Dragged his friends and supporters down with him. Sad.

My contribution (first) to this thread. I am friends with a Nicaraguan who is married to an American, who has lived on and off these shores for years, one reason of which was the Sandanistas. He has been one of the higher ups in the ruling party there depending on the political climate. Recently received ambassadorship based in Belgium. He feels that this an issue which wouldn't have even come up in his country, and most others.
That's not to say that we shouldn't have higher standards than all. Let's get on with the real important business of the state.

> Nixon resigned because he altered the outcome of a National
>Presidential Election through fraudulent means.

You're making a big assumption. He had a huge landslide victory.
Highly unlikely that a break in the rival's election headqtrs will
swing the vote by 20 points. You might want to go back to the Kennedy
election for election fraud on the presidential scale; specifically in
Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston. You need a REALITY CHECK.

>Clinton had sex with a young woman and lied about it.
>The magnitude of Clinton's offence is infinitesimal when compared to
>Nixon's.

Clinton's transgressions in the abuse of power in the Travel Office
firings, gathering of FBI files, and his attempt to intimidate the
prosecution and the witnesses over the last year is Nixonesque or
worse. He also delved into financial fraud in the Whitewater and
campaign finance in both Arkansas in the 80's and the general
election. There were also bribery scandals involving his various
departments re: indian casino license, Tyson foods, and the
scandals in Brown's dept. Clinton has been more thorough in the
level of fraud. You need a REALITY CHECK.

>With regard to "did not have years of political turmoil", do you
>really want to bet the world that a Clinton resignation will have no
>long term effect in this much more dangerous and unstable world.

Clinton has contributed to the instability over the past several
years with his poor leadership. He had one fiasco after another
in his first term and had to be bailed out by outside help. You
need a REALITY CHECK.

>Think about 10,000 nuclear warheads pointing at you from a crumbling
>Russia. Do you think that Clinton should be focusing a little more
>energy on that problem rather than a sex scandal? Think about Iran
>having the capability of delivering a nuclear warhead to our shores
>in 10 years Do you think that Clinton should be focusing a little
>more energy on that problem rather than a sex scandal?
>Think about the collasped Asian economies with Japan, China, and
>Mexico on the precipice. Do you think that Clinton should be
>focusing a little more energy on that problem rather than a sex
>scandal? Think about Terrorism, Global Warming, Poverty, Pollution,
>Immigration.

Those problems won't be resolved in one year, two years, or five
years and 2000 is an election year. How much effort Clinton puts in
in one year is irrelevant. Most of those problems require the effort
of other countries to solve the problems. Clinton by himself will not
solve these problems. The efforts to address these problems will span
administrations and countries. You need a REALITY CHECK.

>>Nixon resigned because he altered the outcome of a National Presidential Election through fraudulent means.

Your cluelessness extends to history too. Nixon did nothing untoward to "alter the outcome of a National Presidential Election". Nixon had no foreknowledge of the Watergate operation. With 60% and 49 states no one can seriously argue that the outcome was ever altered by anything illicit. No, Nixon's resignation grew out of his participation in the coverup.

Btw, Clinton actively participated in corrupting and altering the outcomes of the past two Presidential elections (beyond his legendary lies and evasions). In 1992 he and his campaign leaked the Walsh indictments the weekend before the election, arresting Bush's momentum in the polls. Clinton got his 43%.

In 1996 Clinton & Co. actively sought to sign up illegal immigrants, including those with felony records, to vote. That was illegal and was done to subvert the vote of genuine citizens and alter the election outcome. Clinton also took illegal campaign cash from foreign nations in exchange for policy changes. He got his 49% - the 1st 2-term Prez never to have achieved a majority.

Clinton should resign because he altered the outcome of a National Presidential Election through fraudulent means. (Chinese money)
