Correct, on the gap strategy, traders don't wait many times for the hour delayed strategy to kick in...They react even sooner...But the basic foundation is still a good one...It shows the trader if there is continued buying momentum or not..In this game you have to analyze what the majority are doing, and try to be one step ahead of them...
Regards, Mark

P.S. CUBE is a trading range stock, 17.56 to 19.75 on upside...
Volume oscillator makes me question ability to approach top of Bollinger Band...Would probably wait to see if 18.75 is taken out on bid first, then ride to 19.50 with tight trailing stop..I only use moving averages to determine support and resistance points, and
potential 21 or 50 day expansion pivot points..(reversals or breaks)

John, it looks to me like AMD closed above its 18dma on 8/6, and has been above it since then. Are there any other indicators your using that induced your buy yesterday? Thanks.

Gary

John,

<When trading methods, become the rules, or shall i say the strategy.. i would be afraid that these methods would no longer apply, because of the many traders that apply them>

Two comments. First, traders fail because they don't follow the rules they themselves created and allow impulse to overcome methodology.

Second, the failure rate for short term trading is incredibly high (probably something the EDT houses would rather not discuss) because most would-be traders see the markets as a easy way to make money. They don't put in the effort required to find that "edge" that allows them to beat their competition, i.e. other traders.

The market quickly takes their money and waits for the next batch of losers.
