Since I don't own a 200Mhz Pentium, it would be hard for me to compare
speeds of my G3-300 running VPC to such a machine. I do know that my G3-300 runs faster than my Pentium 90Mhz. I seem to recall that Connectix had some benchmarks comparing their emulator to actual PC's on their web site. A 292Mhz PB should run comparibly to my 300Mhz desktop running VPC.

If anybody has run any of the popular benchmarks on VPC using some of the latest desktop and PB's, I would be interested in seeing the results.

Thanks,

Richard

What level PB would give performance of a 200MHz PC while running Virtual PC emulation?

I think the best answer is simply buy the best you can afford. I have a PB G3/250 (new one) and a desktop. SoftWindows/Virtual PC is pretty good, but I highly doubt it's 200mhz PC performance. If you can afford it, get the 292mhz model. I doubt you'll be able to get it shipped, so I would wait for the PB refresh coming soon. Those new puppies should really make softwindows/virtual pc run much better.

VPC 2.0 vs SoftWindows 95 .5.0
I don't have either one but the 2 s/w were compared at
macaddict.com

From the article
<<Next, I used the same Director project to create a Projector file.
SoftWindows did it in 32 seconds, Virtual PC in 34, and a Pentium 166 in
22.
Because it's
so easy to dispute benchmark results, I used a 200MHz 604e to run each
emulator through a few tasks that Mac owners might need to perform on
a PC>>
