I don't have a clue. It's all a bit mysterious to me. I send money to my broker. I buy some shares. My monthly report says I own the shares. But I never actually see the shares. I don't know who I bought them from or how they came to arrive in my account. It's all one grand conspiracy. gggggggg George E.

Avalon Group Installs X-po! Kiosks At Prairie Heart Institute

Business Wire - August 19, 1998 15:40

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 19, 1998--Avalon Group, Inc. today announced the installation of its X-po!(TM) kiosks at Prairie Heart Institute at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill.

Ranked in the nation's top 10, and the largest cardiovascular program in Ill., Prairie Heart Institute displayed Avalon's X-po! kiosks recently at the grand opening of its new 165,000 square-foot facility dedicated to cardiac services.

The X-po! kiosks use interactive computer displays to convey information about the Institute's
programs, including patient services, a physician directory and a map of the Institute. In addition, the kiosks offer practical information on heart-related and other health topics, allow access to a comprehensive drug information database, and permit users to provide personal feedback to the Institute. Additional X-po! kiosks will be installed in September in other locations throughout Prairie
Heart Institute.

According to Ron Green, president & chief executive officer of Avalon Group, Inc., "This customer application in the healthcare field represents an excellent example of the rising importance of
computer kiosks as educational, informational and promotional tools. We are very pleased that Avalon's X-po! kiosks have been selected by a prestigious organization such as Prairie Heart
Institute at St. John's Hospital and we look forward to further similar announcements as news of the customer appeal of the X-po! kiosks spreads.

"The healthcare content that has been created by Avalon Group can be inexpensively customized and personalized for hospitals, physician clinics and retail pharmacies," explained Green. "These groups are enthusiastic about the ability to display health information directly to the public, using the visual impact, self-service convenience and cost-effectiveness of X-po! kiosks."

As a further commitment to the healthcare opportunity for its kiosks, Avalon Group also announced
that it will speed up its plans to incorporate into X-po! kiosks peripheral devices using state-of-the-art technologies that will measure and monitor various body vital signs and other wellness indicators. These non-invasive and user-friendly devices will encourage more users to access the kiosks and could perform a very useful role in the early detection and prevention of common health problems. The Company expects to make a more detailed announcement about the first of these technologies, a body fat analyzer, in the coming weeks.

Although initially developed for the healthcare market, Avalon Group is currently in discussions with a number of potential customers to deploy X-po! kiosks in a variety of markets including retail, financial, automotive, entertainment and transportation.
