>> after their dismal display at NAB back in April and their performance since. << I was there in Las Vegas, in April. Were you? I talked to Koz and Burke and techies. There were some disappointments, like the "jukebox" had a rod broken "in transit by FedEx" which I seriously questioned whether it ever worked, but their broadcasting MPEG-2 was working fine, though granted not with their chip. Also, the editing station and router were working. Bottom line, I didn't think it was "dismal", and I was there. Performance since is limited to the fact that they were not able to get the chip through all the production hurdles, even after taking some of the work away from one company that didn't deliver and getting someone else to co-produce. The inability to obtain additional funding before their new CEO (Burke) got nervous and quit was about the last straw for investors. Since then they've obtained $2 million in new financing. How far that will take them is anyone's guess. They stopped work on the chip and are focusing on products deliverable in the near term. That includes products for broadcasters needing to switch to HDTV. What will they market at Amsterdam? Don't forget that MPEG has some relationships with name brands already. I would not rule out MPEG supplying some technology to Motorola. We'll find out when Motorola announces their "revolutionary new product" in Amsterdam in September. Long shot? I already said so. But I've had 100 to 1 horses come in. One belonged to D. Wayne Lucas, but wasn't given due respect on maiden race. It was worth the odds. At < .25, MPEG is worth the odds to me. You do your own analysis.
