Any news behind today's move?

I would say you are late to the burst party (split) ... they were recorded last Friday ... actual split will be seen next month.

The record date is irrelevant. The ex-date (next day after the effect date of the split) is the first day the stock will trade without split rights. If the stock were trading today without the rights to the split then it would be worth only 2/3 of what it was worth when it had those rights. This is why the price on the ex-date will be 2/3 the price of the day before.

If you bought 500 shares today you'd have 750 shares post-split.
