I bet the use of the term "alot" has been discussed here "a lot," but in case it has not, "alot" is not a word. "Allot" is a word, but means "to allocate," as opposed to "a large amount" which is what most posters use "alot" to mean.

What an anal thread. I love it!

It also appears that the word "there" is often used (or utilized) not only for "there", but also for "thier" or "they're".
