I could be wrong but I think LMCS/LMDS is a last mile technology. So when MaxLink claims it can replace fiber, they're talking to buildings, not in a long-haul or back-haul scenario. You still need fiber to back-haul LMCS/LMDS traffic.

I was referring to VDSL, which has fairly extreme distance limitations, and from what I understand, LMDS can be used from the ONU, which as you know is the neighborhood node. I hope I don't have this wrong. I was pretty far into a long dinner with some fine wine when it was explained. :)

What I do know is that VDSL will be used in conjunction with wireless in order to extend its reach. I also know DT and BT are both impressed with what they've seen so far.

You'll have to query others to get a more technical response.
