re: Sell Nov options...

Flo,

You should be pretty happy with your calls. Hope they are moving well.

Firstly, Im not an expert!! Trade your own plan. My thoughts are:

Ask yourself why you bought so much time? To be able to sleep at night? or to hold thru periodic ups and downs?

Dell most likely will slow a bit after the split. Its pretty common. If you were to sell, again that was if, you may do best selling at or just after the split Sept 4. This is very tricky and no "dead on" road map can be followed.

Additionally, if you continue to hold your Nov calls, you may catch some of the anticipated pre earnings run in Nov. Of course if you sell at the split, you can try timing a re-entry for the Nov run.

As for selling to buy stock, good question. I am considering this myself. If you have the desire to hold Dell long and / or sell covered call, buying pre split may work. Understand you get 2X the shares, but you will experience a stock price depression for a period of time. In Dells case, it wont last long.
