Troy, good response.....that's the Troy we know and love. Just a couple of comments on your post. >>>That Shell may spend around $1 billion is, in my view, a pretty good indication of what it really takes to do it right. If that is what it takes to do it right, I don't think that one can make a meaningful comparison with a company who tries to do it on only $100M or so.<<< If what you're saying is that money makes all the difference, I agree - to an extent. SOLV showed us that they did, indeed, grossly underestimate the cost of commercial production. However, Shell has also shown us that 13 billion didn't get the job done right, either. Both took a mighty swing at Alberta and both "whiffed". Maybe for different reasons, but valid comparisons can be made about their past performance and valid comparisons can be made about their futures. Both are still diligently working towards oilsands riches again. Both have learned a great deal and furthered oilsands extraction research. Both will be very cautious with bold statements and self-imposed deadlines. And both will (eventually) be successful in their respective capacities in Alberta. >>> My guess is that if someone told Shell that all they could spend was $100-$200M, they would probably say no thanks,<<< ...my guess is that Shell would do it in half a heart beat.....Shell learns a lot of "cheap" lessons everyday. >>>... it is neither necessary nor warranted and might not be taken as only humor.<<< Perhaps I was a bit hasty to cry "taunt" in my prior post, Troy. You see, I haven't had Barb to flame, defame or badger lately and ...well ..it's really starTIN' TO GET TO ME!!! Why just the other day I'm sitting at a red light, mindin' my own business, when this homeless guy hold up a sign asking for money...well, you can imagine his surprise when I rolled down my window and screamed " Oh sure, Rendall this is what it's come down to..." or when I was at Starbucks and...oh jeez, this was embarassing...the girl hands me my latte after I waited for what seemed like 17 years, and says that'll be 110,000,000 , sir....Oh, man...I lost it....the next thing I know is that several customers are dragging me out of the store and I was still screaming " FROTH???? You want a 110,000,000 million for FROTH??? To the log washer with you ...you ...short son of a bitch....HA HA HA HAHAAAAAAAA!!!!! I'll try to be civil in the FREAKIN future, though....just don't start nothin, man.....I work for Ken Star. The special prosecutors for operation M.O.N.I.C.A ...Major Oil-producers Now In Commercial production in Alberta.
