If I in any way implied that I liked the actions of the Republican presidents, I apologize - that was not my intention. I think pretty much all politicians are slime. I would like to see a return to when they actually felt that doing service for the public was an honor, not a career. Your example about Bush was a good one - he listened to bad advice from both professional military types and politicos, and made a poor decision (IMHO) for which we are all still paying.
