ron--

it has been in a downtrend for a while, and downtrends break. look at it from this perspective...its been down close to 50% from may. this kind of thing happens. as for it going into the single digits, i dont think so. too many people out there who are interested in the stock.

good luck to all,
trey

Ron,

I'm out of VLSI at the moment...sold what I had left at 14 1/16 and decided to trade it very short term for a while. I don't see the stock going to single digits unless they start losing money. For now, I see a trading range between 13 and 15 with an outside chance of it revisiting 12 1/4 or breaking resistance at 15. There have been some blocks on the buy side the past few days and I'm going to guess that it has been the company buying stock as noted in their press release a few days ago. This has been supporting the stock.

Dan

re: << I just can't understand holding a long position in a stock in a downtrend. I'm flat so don't care either way. But for me the only choices are flat or short on this one at the moment.>>

ron, you obviously made a good call. I did have a short order in at
14.25, and then 13.875 (against my long position) but I played too
hard to get and they didn't go.

today I doubled up on my doubled up position and am quite comfortable
with it. nsm and lsi news have hit vlsi hard. nsm doesn't matter, though
lsi's warning concerns me somewhat. The only news I have is that
I talked with vlsi IR, and he said that July was 'as expected'. LSI said
that bookings declined in July.

If anyone expert in LSI would care to comment on lsi v. vlsi and wether
lsi's warning should concern us, I'd love to hear it.

As for Stein, he's led this company through a near total thrashing
by intc in '96 and I have a high degree of confidence that he is in fact
very busy working to increase shareholder value right now. I think
we'll get some good news within a month or two.

VLSI, right now, is a case of 'when momentum investing goes bad'.
Maybe FOX will do a special..? I don't think it s/have been at 38, but
it certainly doesn't belong at 12.
