Any conjecture on when Slick is thrown out? If Clinton departs, the date would be critical in determining the maximum length of time that Gore could be prez. The Constitution provides that a person can serve as president no longer than 10 years (2 full terms plus no more than 2 years as a "fill-in" for another president). Assuming that Inaugural Day is 01-20-01, if Gore takes over for Clinton before 01-20-99, his maximum time as president would be one 4-year term of his own plus the 2+ years of Clinton's term (or a total of a little over 6 years). If Gore takes over after 01-20-99, his maximum time as president would be two 4-year terms plus the remainder of Clinton's term (or nearly 10 years).
