Old Buffett strategy in a nutshell...buy the out of favor sectors while they're low and ride them for the double. Oil.

I wasn't expecting such a negative outlook, but it sure confirms all the signs. Sure glad I have a wood burning stove and plenty of wood.

The world is looking to America to show leadership, but we have tied ourselves to the anchor. NAFTA, GATT, Most favored nations, trade deficits, presidential promises, United Nations, IMF, World Bank, etc.
We sold out.

We are losing sovereignty and have now become vulnerable to the same maladies facing the rest of the world.

Other than oil, what other areas do you feel make good safe havens for the long term should the worst occur?

Hey TM,

You sure are taking a lot of hits from other posters lately, but I always liked your style and reading your comments.

The situation in Asia and Europe is indeed ugly. And while the end is not in sight and will be hard for people in those countries I heard something on CNBC that gives a little perspective to the magnitude of this mess. GE's market cap is larger than the whole Hong Kong stock market and even more amazing is that Merril Lynch is almost as big as Italy's

Anyway, I'm glad you're around, and thanks for the TAVA notice. I had given up on it a long time ago!
