ASND thread discussion about LU/ASND. Comments anyone?

Tim, minimum ASND buyout price is $75/$15B on roughly 200M shares. Market opportunity for the combined companies is hundreds of billions of dollars in next 5-10 years. ASND is a bargain at $75. Bookmark this post and let's refer back to it by mid-10/98 -- a friendly competition.

ASND's ace in the hole will be blowout earnings (deferred revenues, new contract build-out, etc.) to be reported in mid-10/98 and very strong earnings in mid-1/99. If LU waits, ASND will just get more and more expensive. LU needs ASND to compete with CSCO -- plain and simple.

Yes, I agree. Only the uninformed and ignorant will believe that the SRA acquisition makes ASND less attractive to LU. Lucent is having a hard time containing its glee with the vision and actions the Ascend team is demonstrating.

Incidentally McGinn accidentally let it slip that Ascend was one of the companies they are acquiring in a company meeting a couple of months ago. This is from a Lucent contact in NJ.
