I'm sure they'll tell us how great things are going. Actually, I've been searching for some good news, any good news, unfortunately every time I find good news, some troublemaker, an oversight board, an Inspector General issues a report calling the compliance statements a fabrication.
Maybe koskinen will straighten my sorry butt out... maybe I'll be sitting in the back, drinking my free pepsi and he'll shout out, you, you there, I recognize you from the CBN specials, you're the clueless one who's been harrassing me in cyberspace... don scott is right, you got a self-induced delusion, the DOT's Inspector General didn't catch the FAA fabricating compliance reports, the DoD's Inspector General didn't catch the Pentagon fabricating compliance reports, a whole bunch of agencies didn't get 'F's.
Yes don, I'm the one with the delusion... the FAA, well, Mr. John Meche, the DOT's Assistant Inspector General didn't say, "...For the systems reported as renovated we found there was limited support for the work reported as done. If the system needed replacement parts and they were ordered, FAA counted the system as repaired. And limited evidence existed of what needed to be done on system interfacing."
come on, pal. We have large organizations with serious, life and death, responsibilities, commiting fraud, certifying safety systems as Y2K compliant and ... surprise, the Inspector General comes in and finds <please, those with sensiblities, skip the next part, it's R rated.> them with their pants down, engaged in some kind of circle jerk. <OK, you can start reading again.>
what the h*ll is going on? We're not talking about some low level functionaries taking a long lunch. These are billion dollar, mission critical, life and death systems and they're playing loosey-goosey with the compliance criteria. ...and then they have the nerve to say, it's safe to get on a plane?
I would be overjoyed to find one industry that has its act together. I don't mean nice press releases, I mean auditable, show me the test results and let me or a team of superprogrammers examine the systems, dump the data, run our own tests.
