Precisely my point. If India hadn't invented zero, somebody else would have. If India hadn't given rise to spoken language (I am not sure if this claim is true at all; perhaps spoken language evolved independently at several places all over the world), it would have evolved somewhere else... The world is a complex system of "give and take". All these high-and-mighty claims that the world owes a great deal of gratitude to India, and that, but for India, the people of the world would still be living in caves, are just plain ridiculous.
