<< I can only imagine how we would all feel if our employers went out and under the pains of perjury or other criminal threat forced our friends, coworkers and family to divulge our secrets. If you think you'd survive that, you're a better man than me.>>

Having been through a very thorough background check conducted by the FBI in relation to obtaining a security clearance needed for my work, I have been through just what you describe. It was, shall we say, extremely annoying and fairly embarrassing. Embarrassing not because I had done anything wrong, but because there was no way to explain to friends why these G-Men were nosing around. No one believes you.

However, as to not doing that to the President, I disagree. He should be subject to the same laws as everyone else. Remember, you're talking about a guy that hired private investigators to do just what you describe, but to private citizens that disagreed with him. I have no sympathy on that count.

On the other hand, a conversation I'm having with someone else on one of the other threads got me asking - what would it take to satisfy me? Without going into why I feel Clinton and the current administration (including the Republican Congress) are so dangerous to my personal freedom, I'm not sure anything Clinton could do or say would satisfy me. That being said, what do I want him to do? To carry it to an extreme, how would all you rabid anti-Clintonistas feel if the first thing you heard this morning was that Clinton just couldn't take it any more, and had committed suicide? Would you feel good? Satisfied? Would the country be better off? What would satisfy me would be a REAL admission of guilt and a sincere apology, along with a promise to do the right thing in the future. No more, no less.
