ISP, MINDSPRING.COM offers access to WEB TV Connect to WebTV with MindSpring! (... for members of Mindspring.com) I have not yet tried to follow the the directions detailed below, but I thought you guys would be interested in the fact that you can connect via your personal ISP. You can use your MindSpring access number to connect to WebTV using a feature called OpenISP. You will be connected to the same WebTV Network, but your Internet terminal will dial a MindSpring access number instead of WebTV. This is useful if your access number for WebTV is a toll call or you currently have a MindSpring account. You will need to be connected to WebTV to complete these steps. To configure WebTV's OpenISP to connect using a MindSpring access number 1. Select Setup from the WebTV home page. 2. Select Dialing on the Setup window. 3. Select Use your ISP on the Dialing options window. If you do not have this option, contact WebTV's Customer Care at 1-800-GO-WEBTV to activate OpenISP. 4. On the Use your own ISP window, enter the following information: ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ * Service provider name: Enter MindSpring ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ * Login Name: Enter your MindSpring User ID, example: ms###### ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ * Password: Enter your MindSpring password. ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ * Modem dial-in number: Enter the access number you use with MindSpring. ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ * Backup dial-in number: This field is optional and can be left blank. 5. Click Done. WebTV will disconnect and try to reconnect to your MindSpring access number. You will have the option each time you connect to use either MindSpring's or WebTV's access number.
