intc, msft, and cpq were trying to drive the telcos. as you can see it hasnt done much.

everyone wants high speed. they dont care if its CAP or DMT, though they might care if it is full speed or g.lite<G>.

msft should concentrate on making a good OS, not trying to force the telcos.

In the telecom industry Microsoft, Intel and Compaq are not giants. Even thought RBOCs did not openly object to creation of the ADSL -DMT consortium, I suspect they deeply resent the interference in their business by the outsiders.

You might be 100% correct that the future of ADSL (assuming there is one) will be DMT, but I agree with the point Roger made, that RBOCs initially will be better off starting with field tested WSTL's CAP.
