More activity from your neck of the woods. The following paragraphs are from a financial release from a company called AAPT in Australia.

"...New Projects

Williams said the company is working on a possible A$300 million to A$500 million project to build a wireless network using Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology and on ways to help media companies deliver content to the home.

The CDMA technology is a wireless communications system that greatly increases a network's capacity and sound quality. AAPT plans to offer voice, mobile, data and Internet services over the network and will begin trials next year.

''We want to make sure the technology works and we don't get out and build something that then has technology problems for a year or two,'' said Williams.

He said AAPT wants a CDMA network because Telstra's access charges are too expensive and it wants to compete in new ''value-added service'' markets.

The network would allow AAPT to offer local phone calls at a rate lower than the current standard resale charge of 25 cents a call offered by Telstra."
