Bill - Re: "ntel was in danger of total commoditisation and even inferiority on the Pentium series with the K6-3D so they have a new and unique package and are trying to protect it that way. It is a desperate measure IMO."

You Modest Opinion once again ignores the facts.

Intel's "unique package" provides unique performance enhancements - and has provided Intel with an impressive revenue stream.

Intel has remained EXTREMELY profitable - and AMD - which has DELAYED their K6-3D - has lost money in 4 straight quarters which will become 5 in October.

Intel has succeeded - and your prayers for ZERO PROFITS for ALL - is only 2/3 complete - AMD and NSM/Cyrix.

I sure hope you refuse to make a profit on your business - you wouldn't want to profit from the labor and sweat of your customers, would you?
