Duker:
VAR's health care segment is doing quite well. It is very consistent in its growth and is seen as the strongest division there, I believe. I think that it also accounts for about 1/2 of the revenues at VAR. Yes, Friday will be interesting. From what I have heard, it sounds like there will be the splitting up of the company, and this comes from reliable sources. I just can't believe that Wall Street hasn't woken up to it yet, or why they aren't trading a lot on the rumor. Should be interesting....

I don't have much to other than to reiterate what has been published. It was their semiconductor equipment business that has been dragging down the other two divisions. This is not unique, as all semiconductor equipment companies are in a recession. Yes,they do make the best ion implanter, but it will still get hit by the slow down. Varian is a very conservative firm with good financials. This split up should be a plus for us shareholders. The instrumentation and health equipment businesses are quite profitable and have little in common with the semiconductor equipment market place.
