Another earnings play beat today: AEOS beats by 7 cents: Shares of American Eagle Outfitters rose 3 percent Thursday after the clothing retailer beat consensus estimates for the second quarter by 7 cents. and we didn't even have to hold through earnings! On a better day the stock would probably react like CNS did going up over 15% in two days. It's been especially beaten down of late.

Separately, CIBC Oppenheimer raised its earnings estimates for the full year to $1.78 from $1.73 on the retailer's strong earnings report and outlook. Analysts at the company said it will keep American Eagle at a "strong buy" with a 12-month price target of $63.

Shares of American Eagle (AEOS), which markets casual apparel for young men and women, rose 1 1/4 to 49 in recent trading.

American Eagle said earnings rose 700 percent to$9.6 million, or 40 cents per share, compared to$1.1 million, or 5 cents a year ago. Analysts surveyed by First Call expected the retailer to earn 33 cents in the second quarter

CIBC Oppenheimer said in a report that the
company has "more growth opportunities" ahead as
the retailer gains more popularity with young
consumers as a fashionable, yet inexpensive clothes
store.
