expatriate who had spent time in Sudan and is now in Afghanistan. Bin

Russians recently issued a warning about active and spreading Wahabi extremism. Wahabi is a Saudi variety of Islam. Russian intelligence is extremely sensitive to the spread of Islamic movements into Central Asia and the Caucasus. They are in a crisis mode along the Afghan border, where Bin Laden's hosts, the Taleban, are waging an offensive to capture the remainder of Afghanistan.
