I thought McGinn mentioned in a recent interview that Lucent wasn't going to use the pooling method when they made their next acquisition. Anyone remember this? My impression was that they were waiting for something else...maybe this little confab with Ascend, before they just went ahead and snapped someone up. Maybe I'm remembering this incorrectly. No, what he said was that they weren't going to make decisions based solely on tax consequences, so they will acquire based on business decisions and let the tax consequences fall where they may.
