Unfortunately, the Republicans are acting the same way. I think either a strong 3rd party or a "throw the bums out" (for both parties) revolution would be more effective. Since the Republicans don't have the 60 votes needed in the Senate (or the equivalent votes in the House) to override a veto, we already have the equivalent of what you suggest. The problem is - they just don't listen. Government today is about power and reelection, not about serving the public good.

Adding Democrats to Congress in November and creating approx. 50/50 representation would sent a strong signal to Washington to end this charade. Wouldn't it be better for us and a clearer message to Washington's ensconced if we said bugger all to those two parties and elected 3rd party candidates? This "team sports" approach to politics whereby we staunchly defend "our team" against "their team" does us no good. I know hundreds of regular American citizens who have much more to offer than what is in power now. It's time we quit slaving on their plantations. Best to you.
