The Compaq Presario 5030 is $1199 after rebate WITHOUT monitor.

Its a PII 300MHZ machine

64MEGS of RAM
8.0 gigs of hard-drive
32x CD-ROM
56K modem
100MB ZIP Drive
2 front USB ports

Would anyone who knows tell me whether DELL offers a PC for under $1200?

If you can stop by Austin, Tx. they have PCs at the factory outlet store which frequently are below $1200. I think you can order from the outlet via mail or the internet but I haven't tried (The outlet is just a few miles from my house). Sometimes they get a huge bunch of identical machines (cancelled order or something) and they practicaly give them away. I helped my uncle buy a 233MHhz MMX with monitor, speakers, HP color printer, and software for $1400 total. The next week they were all gone.

P.S. I saw a 400Mhz for about $1550 without monitor last week.
