Bill Grant: Get a clue. Read a newspaper sometime, why don't you. What is Jim Guy Tucker going to cooperate in? Starr has ended his investigation into Whitewater. In fact his offices were shuttered down there and everyone was brought up to Washington. Starr has already told Congress and the press that his report will have nothing to do with Whitewater and will only be about Lewinsky. After the conflagration that is going to erupt in Congress over the next year, it may be that he will NEVER file a report on the Whitewater scandal. That'll really be 60 million dollars well-spent. Anyway, all of you are really ignorant about Whitewater. I read the supposed expose about Whitewater by James Stewart of the WSJ, and I came away thinking, is this all they got on the Clintons? It's an eyeopener about the sleazy way business is done down there, and it's no surprise that someone like Tucker was drawn into that. That the way business is done. (None of you have stated that Tucker was a private businessman, not the governor, when he committed the crimes he was accused of.) Anyway, the only people that have contended that Clinton did anything wrong were James McDougal (after several years of denial) and Hale (only after he was convicted). Both of them claim that Bill was PRESENT at a meeting wherein Hale had his arm twisted by McDougal to make an illegal loan. Bill did not participate in the arm-twisting etc. nor did he even say anything about the loan. Hale claimed that there was no reason for Clinton to be there except to implicitly be putting pressure on Hale to make the loan. But Hale never had any firsthand knowledge of this. In fact, Stewart offered the far more plausible explanation in a later New Yorker article based on some interviews with Susan McDougal that Clinton had come over to boink Susan, and it was awkward because he bumped right into James McD and Hale at the McDougal home and couldn't explain his presence. Because Starr could not close the loop on this accusation, he instead investigated the possibility that the President lied in saying that he did not recall the meeting. That's the news we've been waiting for the last 5 years? Another shocker isn't it? Doughboy
