A friend told me this might interest one of you who frequents both the Intel and AMD SI threads. He said something along the lines of,,,
"compliments from the secret thread".

"Observing the chart of Intel's quarterly sales and net income (before non-recurring charges) since the introduction of the 8088 which was used in the first IBM PC, we see a long steady rise marked by a sharp discontinuity starting in early 1997. Since about the time of the introduction of the Pentium II in May 1997, Intel's sales and net income have dropped off sharply, closely following the decline in its average chip pricing. Every preceding microprocessor family since the 386 produced a noticeable rise in Intel's sales and net income, and a rise in its ASP. Pentium II Fails to Drive Sales "

As usual, I don't understand what all this means or who said it, but if memory serves me correctly, wasn't the K6 introduced in early 1997 also?
