It was reported on this thread several times that someone was buying a large volume of near term call options on NEM. However, so far the smart one in that transaction was the person who sold the calls. (NEM was north of 20 at the time).

If there is a lot of call buying there is also a lot of call selling.
How can someone on the outside make anything of that? At least I can't.

All the stuff you are talking about could be the case. Gold can go up and the gold stocks go down, if world markets crash. "Get me out" will be the cry.
If gold has a real move, money will pour into the sector. The market caps are so small, the gold shares will fly. Double and triples in weeks.
Our day is not too far off.
