George, the latest contract with Southwall is a project that will be engineered and maybe set up and running in Tucson before it gets shipped to Southwall. The new facility, as I was told, is up and running in fine shape. They have designed the building to house more than a few projects at any one time and with one client being separated from the others for security and or competition's sake. they are in the process of building a 160' vacuum chamber for Viratec. The time line is supposed to be completion of the hardware in Oct, testing and final disassemble and shipping in the first Q/99. I do find it interesting that the project for Viratec was not made a news item. Maybe disclosure or competition concerns, maybe it is not all that large as contracts go. It is also my understanding the way the Tucson plant was build would allow for easy expansion to the existing structure as anticipated. I believe that once the Battelle alliance is final we will hear plenty of details about the Tucson facility and more. My understanding is that many more clients for this kind of technology are waiting in the wings for this alliance to happen. One of the issues that they drove home at the SHM was the merger of (read the Southwall news release) sputter coating and monomer evaporation into one or concurrent processes that make it cost effective. In the past these two processes were done separate from one another, now they can be combined in a cost effective manner. I do not know how the Battelle alliance will add to this or if they are part of it. Time will tell these details. I hope this answers some of your questions. Please don't hang your hat on my information. A trip, as you suggest, to the facility would be worth a million words. I have often times considered the same.
