Truman: While I have to agree that Gore has his extremes, there is no way if he were to assume the helm that Congress as a body would do anything but laugh at his silly proposals if he took a left turn after assuming office. The only bill that Gore could get passed is an extension of the "Late Night Comedian Full Employment Act" as passed under Clinton. If Clinton is Nixon's long lost son, Gore the stiff bore is Gerald Ford's clone.

But I doubt Gore would go left. He wants to be President as bad as Clinton did even if it means he will get his own Starr shadow. If he were take the place of Clinton, Gore would go straight down the middle in an effort to hold onto his power through the next election. If he were elected, at that point he might take a left turn if the Congress was friendly.
