Naturally additional system requirements reduce the potential market. But either way, I don't think it would make much difference. TR3 is being optimized for the PSX, and the majority of sales will come from the PSX. By the time TR3 ships, 3Dfx will have shipped over 5 million accelerators. Add to that number the millions of Riva 128's and Verite chipsets, and I think you'll see that most gamers have 3D acceleration. In fact, a complex game like TR3 would require some pretty good horsepower to run in software mode. And if you have a CPU that could run it ok in software, your computer is probably new enought that it has 3D acceleration standard.

Personally, I like to see titles require 3D. First, it's one more reason to by Voodoo :) and second, it gives the appearance that the title is high-tech,and could only be appreciated with an accelerator.

Neither TR nor TR2 require an accelerator card.

(But they are both enhanced by use of one)

The rumour had been that Tr3 would require one rather than simply be enhanced by it.
