Andrew, I really think the 400,000 remains too high. We have a report of 50,000 a week but reports from these sites have very often proven to be way to optimistic. I'm sticking with my 30,000 a week. 2nd SJ said there were "10's of thousands" ready to go at launch. That is not 150,000. I'd guess in the 50,000 range. This would give 230,000. Let's say 250,000 - 300,000 to be safe. If this is true we should see shortages reported if indeed there were 150,000 pre-orders. I believe this was orders for the retail channel not for customers. Andrew- I think margins on iMac are higher than on AIO.

AIO is the same form factor as iMac, but you get floppy, scsi, serial ports, pci slots for about $300. AIO is a really good deal, and you could order it last spring. iMac will do very well in the schools as time goes by.

I'm looking for increased market share, and increased sales volume. If the quarter ends, and Apple can't make enough computers to satisfy demand, I think the company is in great shape.

Christmas is coming, but I got my AAPL shares at $39 15/16 today! Thanks to Options Expiration!

Do you strongly disagree with the reports suggesting 400,000 iMacs? If so, what is your projection and why?

I think that such figure assumes a lot of things going perfect. Unfettered demand, no recalls, distribution network up to par, and so on..

I'd say that while 400,000 is possible, it is unlikely.
