One Colonial has launched two massive takeovers in 6 months for the Aussie subsidiaries of British life insurers. They also own the Colonial State Bank and First State Fund Managers which is one of the best Aus mutual fund managers. Not listed in NY (yet) I bought in an IPO at book value when the company demutualized last year. The other I also bought in a float as the Swiss parent Winterthur offloaded the rest of it's Aussie subsidiary to individual investors here. Payment is in two tranches so we get a 10% dividend yield in the first year.
