Bill,

<yet they have siezed and ever increasing share from mighty Intel. >

Share of what?? Not profit share. Anyone can gain volume share if they are willing to sell at a loss. It's amusing that some look at this as an accomplishment rather than a miserably flawed strategy.

<Your consigning AMD and Cyrix as dismal failures is toadally wrong>

I guess it depends on your definition of "dismal failures". Certainly from a financial perspective (which is what investors should be concerned with) AMD and Cyrix have been total utter failures and have been refining/perfecting their losing ways over the last few quarters. AMD was much more stable 2 years ago. Cyrix through in the financial towel and AMD is on the verge of financial ruin. IMO, the long term survival of AMD depends 100% on whether or not they can find a suitor. After NSM's fiasco (which most people here saw as inevitable the day they announced they were buying Cyrix) any potential AMD suitor will definitely think twice before acting so charitable. AMD is in serious trouble and if you want to know how serious just look at their balance sheet.
