<< Do you really believe that the "food chain" method of federal prosecutions should be used on the President of the United States>>

This is a very interesting question. Should the President be treated in a different manner by the law than are "regular" citizens.

Another question for you - when you describe the investigation as a fishing expedition, you assume that the prosecutor doesn't know what he's looking for. Yet you don't make that distinction in the organized crime cases. If it really was a fishing expedition, I agree with you. If, however, Starr "knew" the President was dirty (ate Christian babies, actually liked Tofu, etc.), would Starr be justified in fishing for whatever it took to take the man down. Please note that I am not saying Clinton is (or is not) guilty of anything - I only want to know if there would ever be justification for going after a President for little stuff.

<<<The OIC is supposed to investigate what he was commissioned to do, in this case whether any federal crimes occurred in the Whitewater land deal. We are so so so far away now from that original commission, I think it's fair to ask whether we have an OIC spinning out of control.>>>

I have as yet read a more humorous post. An OIC that is out of control has forced a sitting President to present himself on national TV and admit that he is a liar. Hell, that in itself is worth much more than 60 million dollars! An "out of control" OIC has convicted a sitting governor and sent him to jail. An "out of control" OIC has sought and gained convictions in every single trial that he has brought to fruition including Webster Hubbell and the McDougals. It has been an "out of control" OIC that has demolished almost every major challenge that the President submitted to the Supreme Court. If you have a complaint I suggest that you take it up with Janet Reno. At no time did Ken Starr begin any of his peripheral investigations without her blessing and that of the judiciary. The assumption that the OIC is just picking and choosing their battles without any backing from the proper sources would be a bigger lie than Bill Clinton saying he "didn't have sex with that woman!" What really bothers you is that you're side has a tired arm and you're having to face someone who is whacking the ball out of the park just about every time he comes to bat. This guy is hitting about .800. I imagine the Dems are fuming because they sent the bat boy up against the Reagan administration and were soundly spanked.
