Who would have believed three years ago that this form of in your face dark fiber would ever be sanctioned by anoyone, or sustainable, as a business? Proof that the bandwidth economic model is shifting. Gilder made reference to this model in his Fiber Sphere paper of '92, and I saw the merits of it before then, after a considerable amount of arm wrestling with the incumbents, but at the time it did not appear that anyone would come forward with balls big enough to pull it off. I've got to take my hat off to those guys over in National Fiber Networks, or NFN, the predecessors of MFNX. I'll tll you a story some day... Frank C.
