In my humble opinion, the problem isn't whether Mr. Clinton timed this strike to save his rear end or whether or not a "wag the dog" scenario is occurring. What is happening here with such accusations is the manifestation of a level of mistrust that Mr. Clinton himself has generated. Unfortunately, for him and the country, everything he does from here on will be called into question. Now many are finally waking up to the hard, cold reality of what Mr. Bush meant when he said "character counts". You cannot behave in a manner that is morally contemptable to a significant portion of the population and then attempt to claim the moral leadership qualities required of the position. It may soothe your conscious or give you some phony level of comfort to point at those who understand this as hypocritical religionists but even this will not change that reality. Those who think you can remind me of the people out in the fields at Woodstock who thought they could wish the rain away just by thinking good thoughts!
