if it rises above $4 it would then be marginable

It needs to be above $5 to be marginable at most if not all brokerages.

dkr: me too. you must be with fidelity.
they are generous with the 5 days, tho
it really sucks to fall off the cliff
at 4 dollars, doesn't it?
my resources are already stretched, but
i'm scrambling to hold on and i think
i can make it. you sure find out who
your friends are when you ask to borrow
$10,000!
i have talked to other brokerages,
and i think most have a cliff at $5.
it seems that datek will not let you
borrow more when it falls below $5,
but will not sell you out until your
debt reaches 70% of equity. I'm
trying to switch to them, but i
think it's too late.
still i'm sure i will be able to come
up with the cash...
i think other margin sellers have
already hit the wall from shorter
time to cover (e.g. 3 days) or
from falling off the cliff when we
closed below $5.
A small rise Monday or Tuesday would
make my day but i'm not expecting it.
