If you were to make a comparison between ONSALE and eBay, what variables would you use to formulate the comparison? Thanks.

eBay Auction count update:

Active auctions as of August 28, 1998: 649,169

Active auctions as of August 21, 1998: 625,810
Active auctions as of August 14, 1998: 612,893

Increase over August 21: Approximately 3.7 percent
Increase over August 14: Approximately 5.9 percent

At the rate of increase in the past two weeks, annualized, we could expect 2.5M auctions per week at this time next year. (Of course, two data points is not nearly enough to make these projections, but with a few more months worth of data, these projections will become much more meaningful. On the other hand, I would not be surprised to see the pace actually increase, as we are just starting to move out of the summer season.)
