This is not true. I happen to own a little AVID stock (not any part of Intel's share) because my wife likes the company.

The reason of Intel's investment is to make sure Avid's product start cover some of Intel's platforms. The Avid MCExpress runs on x86 for a long time now. Even though it is not the high end you can not say Avid is a pure Mac shop.

As to some program for PC that does not have MAC version, from the top of my mind there are 3D Studio and AutoCAD which are 2 top of the line design software.

I still remember over 12 years ago when I got my hands on a Mac Plus it strike me in awe and it is head a shoulders above its PC peers. But forgive me for saying that Apple's OS has not made a lot of progress in this 12 years and they are always too expensive. Against my recommendation, my wife bought a PowerMac 7500/100 two and a half years ago for 3700$. She outgrows it and recently I have to built her a PII 350 for 1/3 that price (not including a 21" monitor). She use a lot of Macromedia product and you know, Macromedia just recently changed their primary OS from Mac to PC. It is going to be hard to find Mac software that does not have a PC version now.
