Both CYBG and REXI were crushed today and worth watching for any signs of recovery on the prospects of a slight bounce up. Much like CIEN today, both these stocks could have been oversold.

14 stocks made the short list today with only a few poised for some short term opportunities. Most are wait and see or longer term prospects.

SPYG is mentioned in this report.
WIND(40-3/8, +2)-stock still performing well from this past Friday's release of earnings that exceeded expectations. Good analyst coverage and comments were probably taken to heart over the weekend causing some investors to flock to a stock that seems to be out performing its peers and other stocks, in general. See previous commentaries. Volume was more than 2.5X average daily volume.
ADTN(28-11/16, +2 3/16)-I cannot seem to find anything on this stock that would suggest this type of move. This makes me very suspicious. Last news worthy of noting goes back 10 or more days. Stock is traded just under 2X average volume and looks as if the chart has it coming out of a bottom. Over the past 6 trading sessions, 3 of them seem to have been at uncharacteristically higher than ordinary volume. Pause for wonder, I guess. I follow this stock because of my heightened interest in their competitor, PAIR which seems to be depressed in value and possibly undervalued.
MUEI(16- 5/8, +3/8)-Micron announced the launch of their ad campaign the first week of September. We mentioned this a few days ago and it seems we are building this up to a crescendo. It seems to be working since there is heightened interest in this stock in anticipation of this campaign along with other prospects previously mentioned over the past few weeks. We are even seeing a plethora of news releases concerning the impending launch. biz.yahoo.com biz.yahoo.com As a matter of fact, you could say that we had a media blitz today on the Internet with 7 total news references. NOVL(11-7/16, +7/16)-trading at 1.3X average daily volume and trading on the Motley Fool Turnaround Commentary highlighted yesterday, NOVL has now been noticed by C/Net News.com Business reporter Dawn Kawanto who published an online article, "Novell primed for growth, rebound" today. In spite of a declining Nasdaq, NOVL is getting closer to its 52 week high and has already demonstrated cost cutting measures in its recent quarterly report. news.com
MAST(25-1/2, +3/4)-appears on the list but with no news or volume alerts. Looks as if the stock, after falling from just under $30 to $21 in the last 2 months, it has slowly recovered some of that loss over the past 2.5 weeks to its present midway point of $25.50 today.
THDO(3-3/4, +1/8) Interactive gaming software company being watched along with AKLM for possible seasonal upturn as we get into the Holiday buying season and for any possible additional "marriages" like that of MPRS and Hasbro Toys. You are only as good as your last title or as attractive as a suitor perceives you.
AKLM(7, +1/16)-traded very low volume today (30% of average daily volume) and hardly worth talking about. See previous reports or just re-read the comments above for THDO.
MCRL(36-3/8, +7/8)-one of two IC manufacturers on today's report. Looking for signs of life in this sector with a company that is trying to move out of a recent bottom from the end of July to very early August. MCRL appeared on these scans before and is up 20% from the beginning of August. As a memory refresher we linked you to a July 30, 1998 story "Micrel Announces World's First Quad USB Switch". Micrel Semiconductor's is involved in analog power management ICs but announced the expansion of its USB Power Distribution Switch product line.
LSCC(31-1/2, +1 1/8)-Remarkably it is up on half of its average daily volume. This company sports a very respectable P/E ratio and some solid earnings. The semiconductor downturn has not been very nice to this company, having fallen from $74.50 less than a year ago. It has been a steady decline over the past year with a bottom established early June when it gapped down from $35 to under $30. This gap was made up steadily in mid July before finding a comfortable home at the $30 level. Some of the recent positive action could be due to the 8/18 Goldman Sachs coverage of this stock as a market performer. LSCC (Lattice Semiconductor Corporation) designs, develops and markets the widest range of high-performance ISP programmable logic devices (PLDs), invented by LSCC in 1992.
SMOD(20-7/8, +1/4)-Trading 1.5X average volume, SMOD seems to be a darling these past few days on the heels of its pretty impressive earnings release a few days ago. Still riding the wave it seems. I was not too impressed with this company when I first started commenting on it. I still feel queasy about it but the numbers don't lie. Amid all the Class Action Lawsuits that proliferate the news stories on the internet, there was a decent headline and news release today. SMART Modular Technologies, Inc. and Ericsson Sign Licensing Agreement For GSM Technology biz.yahoo.com
CUBE(15-11/16, +5/16)-C-Cube Microsystems closed up on news that they partnered with Divicom and Pioneer Electronic Corp. CUBE stated the alliance would improve their ability to meet growing digital-cable demand in the US. The alliance will create an end-to-end digital system, compliant with Open Cable standards, providing home banking, online shopping and interactive television applications. biz.yahoo.com
CYMI(15-11/16, +5/16)-the best was saved for last. This supplier of DUV (Deep Ultraviolet) supplies/sources for the lithographic exposure tool market (steppers and step-scan systems) dominates their market and is one of the top enabling technology suppliers for the advanced 0.18u device technology. Other than a nice mention in the Infrastructure report by Carl Johnson, there are no news stories or releases to indicate something is brewing. However, I believe this to be a very under valued stock and a stock that has not been given the recognition it deserves. I think that more and more analysts will stumble across this stock and realize they are the only consistent and field proven game in town for DUV technology. Owning a vast majority of the market, the may see limited competition from Komatsu in Japan but the market is big enough for both to be successful. This, of course, is predicated on the implementation of 0.18u manufacturing technology within the industry. To date, only INTC has really stepped up to the bar.
