Alan,
Unfortunately there is no silver-bullet for the Y2k problem--except communication and cooperation.
This has to happen between companies, and between nations. Data Integrity has a softare tool--that's it. Tools are used in the remediation process, which accounts for only about 20% of the time and money spent on the average Y2k project.
If TPI wants to use this tool, they'll license it, like they did Bemer's Vertex 2000. They don't need to buy the company.
If their tool is so hot, they will gladly sell it to whomever needs it.

Alan, you know that FBN Associates is the only company to truly have the silver bullet for Y2K. As a matter of fact, we can honestly say no one has ever found an error in any of the code we've remediated. Ask Bob Bemer. He begged us not to do business in Puerto Rico and Canada.

P.S. Oops, did I say "we" and "us"? I really meant "they" and "them". (g)
