From what I understand, GE has the mineral rights and that would include the tailings pond and the river for that 9.3 miles.

Because this entire area was under water, I suspect that the depth had very little influence. I'm sure we will receive some information about this in the near future. Until that time, I'm just another prospector waiting for the ore car.
