Thread: I saw (sawed?) a great cartoon. On a bed lay (lain, layed, laid) a chicken and an egg. The chicken was smoking a cigarette. The caption read, "The answer to an age old question." I rest my case, Diver PS - When you fly commercial, which is correct, "When the fasten seat belt light is lit", or "When the fasten seat belt light is lighted." Provide references to substantiate your position. If you disagree with the Elements of Style, explain convincingly why. Extra credit will be given
