AFTER THE BELL - Ciena Corp. shares rise NEW YORK, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Shares of telecommunications equipment supplier Ciena Corp. regained some lost ground Friday in post-session trading after falling more than 25 percent during the day, following an announcement that its hopes for a big deal with AT&T Corp. (T - news) had fallen apart. The company's stock was trading at 33-1/2 on the Instinet electronic trading system, up from 31-1/4 after the close. The company after the bell issued a statement saying it saw no change in its business outlook despite AT&T's decision not to test one of its products. Northwest Airlines Corp. shares (NWAC - news) inched up 1/16 to 29-5/16 after hours following an announcement by analysts that the airline, which is threatened by a strike, had raised fares in some competitors' markets. Shares of Eagle Geophysical Inc. (EGEO - news), which gathers seismic information used in oil and gas exploration, were active after hours following an announcement that it had registered 1.52 million of its common stock shares owned by Seitel Inc(SEI - news). Seitel has indicated it does not currently intend to offer any of the shares registered under the registration statement since Seitel considers the stock severely undervalued, Eagle Geophysical said. The New York Stock Exchange said that after-hours session one volume was 1,466,800 versus 1,334,800 on Thursday. Session two volume was 391,946 versus 4,261,086 on Thursday.
